Country Charm Melek-Turkish Kangal Dog
Melek is the daughter of Kamran but takes her body type more from her Sire, Thor. thick and muscular. Her wide chest and strong build makes her perfectly suited as a Livestock Guardian Dog.
Melek is a remarkable Livestock Guardian Dog. If we had to use one word to describe Melek it would be "nurturing". Melek is especially attentive to the baby goats, she loves them! This is a wonderful trait for a Livestock Guardian Dog (LGD) to possess. Not only is she an outstanding LGD, she genuinely loves her charges. This is a characteristic that can not be trained into your dogs, it's instinctive. When there is a sound of distress whether it is from a goat being frightened, separated from it's herd or the cries from a kid as it is being disbudded, Melek is the first on the scene. When a doe is in labor she stays as close as possible to make sure all is going well and she is the first to welcome the new kids to Country Charm Farm. We love her!
With the threat of predators ever present it is a wonderful feeling each night as we look across the barn before turning out the lights and see Melek and her mother Kamran settling in among their goats. We know our animals couldn't be in more capable hands and we rest well.
